Lower Elementary Classroom Assistant (Full-Time) – Start Date: Late August 2024

Sunshine Montessori School is seeking a Classroom Assistant for the 2024-25 school year to support a Lower Elementary Montessori classroom.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Prepare the classroom environment
• Manage the flow of the classroom
• Support children in their resolution of conflicts and concerns
• Be a role model for children in speech, tone, demeanour, and actions
• Serve as a record keeper of the work children are engaged in and children’s social interactions
• Supervise during off-campus field trips.
• Supervise lunch
• Support dismissal
• Assist with cleaning the classroom
• Assist with toileting emergencies
• Supervise outdoor recess in all weather conditions, including rain, snow, and a wide range of temperatures

 POSITION DETAILS

This is a full-time position during the academic year (end of August through June). Afterschool, March Break, and summer opportunities are also available. Salary is based on education and teaching experience.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Required:

• Pass a VS background check
• Have previous experience with children (1 year)

Preferred:

• MACTE Lower Elementary Diploma and University Level Degree
