ABOUT MONTESSORI SCHOOL OF CAMBRIDGE
The Montessori School of Cambridge (MSC) is an established, vibrant school that has provided consistent high-quality early childhood programs to Cambridge families for over 50 years. We are a not-for-profit CCMA-accredited school that is overseen by a board of directors. MSC’s goal is to provide quality education within a safe learning environment, providing every child an equal opportunity to reach his/her full potential.
WE’RE ON THE LOOKING FOR A FULL-TIME BUSINESS MANAGER TO:
MSC is currently looking for an experienced Business Manager that is highly motivated and committed to embracing the school’s mission, values, and sense of community. We are looking for an individual who is substantially organized and able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. The successful applicant will be someone who can see the big picture and is also able to focus on the details. Our ideal candidate will be someone who is approachable, able to collaborate with staff, liaise with parents, and build strong external partnerships.
Responsibilities include:
Financial Management
•Develop and manage the school’s annual budget.
•Monitor expenses, revenue, and cash flow.
•Prepare financial reports for auditors and Board of Directors. Including providing notes to the Board of Directors at the bi-monthly meetings.
•Manage and process payroll, bank reconciliation, tuition payments.
•Collaborate with auditors during annual audits.
•Submit GST rebate information bi-annually to the CRA
•Manage funds with the bank for required accounts and investments (GICs)
Administrative Oversight
•Manage incoming calls/emails for MSC as the first point of contact for the school
•Maintain accurate records and documentation.
•Coordinate facility maintenance and improvements including annual inspections.
•Manage contracts and vendor relationships.
•Assist the Board of Directors in bi-monthly meetings
•Publish a quarterly school newsletter
•Maintain class lists, student allergy/medical conditions list.
•Review monthly statements of the Staff benefits program for accuracy, manage plan as needed and meet with the coordinator annually to review policy.
School Funding
•Chair the fundraising committee. Manage school fundraising activities including the school yearbook.
•Apply for and manage grants related to staff training, wage enhancement, general operating grant, CWELCC funding, etc. Including reconciliations required by the region in relation to the funding.
•Complete the subsidy attendance reports to receive subsidy funds from the region.
•Meet with City and Regional coordinators to review policies and grant opportunities. Attend conferences/teleconferences to stay up to date on new policy and funding guidelines
•Organize annual fundraising calendar and the fundraising goal for the year
Student Enrollment Management
•Prepare annual re-enrollment and new enrollment packages.
•Collect and follow up to ensure all information and deposits are received.
•Contact families on the waitlist to fill open spots in the programs.
•Distribute enrollment information with classroom staff and update throughout the year as needed.
WHAT YOU NEED TO APPLY:
•Minimum of 3-5 years-experience in a role like this
•Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
•Exceptional interpersonal and verbal and written English communication skills
•Proficiency in financial software (e.g., Simply/Sage accounting software) and Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word and Outlook).
Additional skills that could be advantageous:
•Knowledge of regional funding management.
•Knowledge of education sector regulations.
•Valid standard first air and CPR certification.
•Valid vulnerable sector police check.
Note: Preference given to those who are a designated ECE in good standing
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $56,500 per year (negotiable)
